Our Garden after Planting... (Sept 2010)

Sept 2 2010.

The fruits of our labor are starting to show their heads after four days of being in the ground...

We have BABIES!!

Some of the sprouts are Beans, Peas, Collards, Lettuce, Turnips, Acorn Squash, Beets and Radishes! And one of the Heirloom Cherry Tomato plants I started from seeds in starter pots has sprouted.

Sadly, we've already lost half of the purchased Tomato plants and several of my hybrid sprouts. The plastic mulch was holding in the water and more than likely kept it too hot. In a matter of a couple days they rotted and fell over right at the base of their stems. Evolver pulled all the plastic mulch off yesterday so hopefully we can salvage what remains and keeping my fingers crossed the back-ups I started from seed will sprout.

Here are our beans to the left and the squash that are in the rounds.

Here is our start of Bee attractors and more to come (Two Blue Porter Weed and one Blue Basil/Salvia in the fore-ground) that we bought and our KIDS playing.

This guy is a Giant Swallowtail Butterfly larva that we found on our lemon tree leaves and when you touch them on the back they raise their heads and the two red things come out.

The Giant Swallowtail Butterfly larva that I left along ended up eating over half of the leaves on the tree in the matter of two nights. Grrrrr Needless to say they will not be left alone in the future.

The Black eyed peas are doing well... I'm not talking the band here. LOL We will be planting allot more of them next planting.
